Our first place recipient, Ray Chen, is awarded for his "Mother and Child" series, which embodies the profound influence of matrilineal family education on our lives. Inspired by the unwavering strength of women and the nurturing spirit of motherhood, these pieces redefine our roles in society, reminding us of the importance of inspiration, love, persistence, and redefinition. @raychenclay
Michael Ferris, our second place recipient, creates sculptures that are portraits of family and friends. Informed by his own Middle-Eastern heritage, his work is surfaced in reclaimed wood mosaic, inspired by the intricate wood intarsia technique from Damascus, Syria. @michael.ferris.sculpture
This year we have two third place recipients!
Vivian Chiu's work expresses the mechanics of identity formation. Her optical sculptures and intricate self-portraits reveal and conceal the female body, investigating notions of visibility and invisibility. @viv_chiu
Hiroyuki Hamada's sculptures emphasize the harmony of the material reality allowing objects and ideas to merge according to what they are - the voiceless have voices. @hiroyuki_hamada_art
And this year's honorable mention - congrats to William Virgil! His work is a bold exploration of sculptural and installation art intertwine with interactive technology, inviting viewers into a world where the tactile and technological converge. @williamvirgil

My work "Mother and Child" was also presented at the Administration Hall, December 4-11, 2020.
